Egyptian archaeologists have found three tombs from the New Kingdom period (1550–1070 B.C.) in the Dra Abu al-Naga necropolis in Luxor. These tombs have inscriptions that tell us about the people buried there. Two of the tombs belonged to important officials: one was Baki, who managed the grain storage, and the other was "S," who had several jobs, including supervising the Temple of Amun and being a writer. The third tomb belonged to Amum-em-Ipet, who worked on the Amun estate. Although his tomb was mostly damaged, archaeologists found parts of pictures showing people carrying funeral furniture and a banquet. The ministry has shared photos of the items and statues found in the tombs. This discovery comes before the Grand Egyptian Museum fully opens this summer. The museum will display more than 100,000 ancient artifacts from Egypt. Sherif Fathi, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, said that this discovery is a very important scientific and archaeological achievement that will likely help cultural tourism.
