Egyptian archaeologists have found three tombs from the New Kingdom period (1550–1070 B.C.) in the Dra Abu al-Naga necropolis in Luxor. These tombs belonged to important people: Baki, who managed the grain storage; "S", who had several jobs like supervising at the Temple of Amun and being a writer; and Amum-em-Ipet, a worker for Amun. Although Amum-em-Ipet's tomb was mostly damaged, parts of drawings showing funeral furniture and a banquet were discovered. The ministry has shared pictures of the items and statues found in the tombs. This discovery comes before the Grand Egyptian Museum fully opens this summer, where more than 100,000 ancient Egyptian artifacts will be shown. The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathi, said this find is a very important scientific and archaeological success that will likely help cultural tourism.
