Lukas Furtenbach, a famous mountain guide, helped a British team climb Mount Everest very fast. They used a special gas called xenon. The team left London on May 16th, reached the top on May 21st, and returned home two days later. The xenon gas treatment is supposed to protect climbers from getting sick at high altitudes. However, some people are discussing it, and Nepalese climbing officials are now investigating it. Before the climb, the team trained in special tents that copy high altitude conditions and had xenon gas treatment at a clinic in Germany. Furtenbach believes that spending less time on the mountain could reduce harm to the environment, like less human waste. He also stated that the xenon gas treatment was not actually used in Nepal, and he is confident he can prove it is safe for climbers.
