Aid groups said Friday that Israel's plans for giving help in Gaza will make people suffer and die more. They asked Israel to let food and other things into Gaza.

Mike Huckabee, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, said a new American plan to give help would start soon. He asked the U.N. and other groups to join. But the U.N. said no to the new plan. They said it uses help as a weapon, could make many Palestinians leave their homes, is not fair, and cannot give enough help.

Every day in Gaza, it is difficult for people to get food. Thousands of Palestinians went to a place in Khan Younis where they give free food. They pushed and held up their pots to get some pasta. These places are almost the only way for the 2.3 million people there to eat. But many of these places have closed recently because they do not have food. This is because Israel has stopped food from entering. Groups that help people say more places will close soon.

Raed al-Zaharna and his children had no food because the day's meals were finished. He said, "I am thinking now, 'What can I give them to eat?' I cannot find anything."

Since March 2, Israel has stopped food, medicine, fuel, and other important things from entering Gaza. Israel says this is to make Hamas release people they are holding and give up their weapons. Israel also ended an agreement to stop fighting with Hamas. They started bombing Gaza again and took control of large areas of the land. Groups that work for people's rights say stopping supplies is a way to make people starve. They also say it could be a war crime.

Israel said it will not give aid again until a new way to give it out is ready. This new way will take the place of the big effort led by the U.N. and other groups that help people during the war. Israel says Hamas and other fighters are taking the aid, but they have not shown proof. The U.N. says not much aid is taken and that they watch how it is given out.

Help for people should not be used to get something in return.

Huckabee said they would tell people more about the new system from the U.S. soon. He said deliveries would start "very soon," but he did not say when.

He said it would be separate from Israel, and Israel would not give out the aid. He said companies would keep it safe, and the Israeli army would protect the outside areas. He also said Israel claimed it was needed because Hamas was taking the aid.

"I know it won't be perfect at the start," Huckabee said.

A new group from the U.S. wants to give help in Gaza. They want to do it in a way that Israel agrees with. This is from papers seen by The Associated Press.

GHF suggested starting with four distribution centers for supplies, which would be protected by private security guards. Each center would serve 300,000 people, covering approximately half of Gaza's population. Huckabee stated that the system would be expanded as soon as possible.

Aid workers say people would have to go to places where food and help are given, or walk a long way. This would make many people leave their homes in Gaza. The places for help are not decided yet, but aid workers heard they will not be in the north of Gaza, where many people live.

During the war, Israel has often told people in the north, like Gaza City, to leave. They said it was for their safety while soldiers fight Hamas.

Elder stated that the plan would solidify forced displacement "for political and military reasons." He added that the most vulnerable individuals, such as children, the elderly, and those with illnesses, might struggle to reach the designated centers.

Last month, 20 groups helping people in Gaza said this plan would make Palestinians live in difficult conditions, like being kept in small areas near the main places.

Aid workers say Israel told the UN they want to choose who gets help. People are afraid Israel might not give help to some people for political or military reasons. But the GHF plan says help will go to people who need it.

Elder also said that ordinary people would be in danger if they tried to get help in areas with soldiers.

Elder said that more children could be hurt or die because of this plan.

Aid officials are concerned that the new system will not provide sufficient assistance. Relief organizations have managed numerous distribution points across Gaza, providing essential supplies like food, water, and shelter materials. Additionally, they support medical facilities, operate shelters, and implement various other programs.

UNRWA is a UN group that helps Palestinian refugees. They are in charge of this work. Last year, Israel stopped UNRWA from working there. Israel said that some UNRWA workers were helping Hamas. UNRWA has more than 10,000 workers in Gaza. They said they quickly fire anyone they think is linked to fighters. UNRWA also said that Israel has not shown them proof for these claims.

Juliette Touma, a spokesperson for UNRWA, said the group helps the most people. She also said it is very hard to do aid work without UNRWA.

Ruth James from Oxfam said that getting help to everyone needs big networks. She said this takes time and skill. She also said that a new system that starts quickly without experience and trust from people will not be able to do this.

Huckabee asked UN groups and help groups to be part of the new plan.

Jens Laerke from the U.N. said on Friday that Israel has not listened to their worries in many meetings. He also said that stealing aid was not a big problem.

The main problem is that hundreds of trucks with help cannot enter Gaza every day. This is why there is a difficult situation for people there.
