Vietnam celebrated 50 years since the end of the war with the US. There was a military parade. Vietnam wants a peaceful future.

On April 30, 1975, Saigon fell. Vietnam was one country again. Before, it was North and South. The leader said the country was more together now.

To Lam said: "All Vietnamese people are from Vietnam. They can live and work here. They can be happy and find love here."

He said everyone wants Vietnam to be a good country.

Many people stayed in the city all day and night to see the parade and shows.

The red and yellow flags of Vietnam were in the city. You could see them on buildings, on people's faces, and on T-shirts.

"Now we need peace," said Nguyen Thi Hue. "Peace is the dream for everyone in the world."

One float had a special bird from Vietnam. Another float had a picture of Ho Chi Minh.

Soldiers from China, Laos, and Cambodia walked after the Vietnamese soldiers.

Many people watched the soldiers. Some people were outside and watched on big screens. Other people stayed at home and watched on TV.

The leader from Cambodia, Hun Sen, and the leader from Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, sat next to the leader from Vietnam.

Lam said taking Saigon was important. It stopped 30 years of fighting for freedom.

He said Vietnam is strong today. This is because the Soviet Union, China, Laos, and Cambodia helped. Also, good people in many countries helped, like in the U.S.

An expert said Vietnam wants to be friends now. They do not just want to win wars.

Giang said the war still makes Vietnam one country, but people still have different ideas.

Pham Ngoc Son is an old soldier. He fought against the USA. Now, he says the USA and Vietnam must be friends.

The war finished many years ago, said the old man.

This year is 30 years since Vietnam and the U.S. became friends.

In 2023, Vietnam and the U.S. became good friends. They are friends like Vietnam is with China and Russia.

Now there are problems with the USA. The US President put high taxes on goods. He also stopped giving help to other countries. This made fixing things after the war in Vietnam harder.

Vietnam and the U.S. are friends. The U.S. helps Vietnam with problems from the war, like cleaning up Agent Orange and finding old bombs that can hurt people.

These projects might stop. The Trump government gave less money to USAID.

The country sells things to other countries. But it is weak now because the world economy is not good and Trump wants to put more taxes.

Vietnam got very high taxes (46%) from the U.S.

She said that Vietnam was friends with the US. This helped Vietnam be friends with China. China is big and strong.

Vietnam and the Philippines have had problems with China about the sea.

If the U.S. only cares about money, Vietnam and other countries in Southeast Asia might not be important for the U.S.

The new leaders will decide how they see the plan for the Asia area and where Vietnam will be, she said.

A woman from the government in Washington did not want to talk about a report.

A U.S. official from Ho Chi Minh City was at the event. The U.S. ambassador was not there.

About 13,000 people were in the parade. Soldiers and other people walked. The parade started on the main street and went to a palace. Then, it went on city streets and passed a building for the U.S.

A video of Chinese soldiers singing a famous song was popular online.
