George Simion won the most votes in the election in Romania. Now he will be in another election against a different person in two weeks. This election is important for the country.

Simion got the most votes. He got 40.96%. Nicusor Dan was second. He got 20.99%.

The final vote is on May 18 between the two candidates. They are very different.

Dan said the next round will be hard. It is against a candidate who wants to be alone.

He said, "This was good for Romania. It is a choice between being friends with countries in the West and not being friends. I ask all people in Romania to help now. I think we will win."

In third place was Crin Antonescu. He got 20.07% of the votes. After him was Victor Ponta. He was prime minister before. He got 13% of the votes. Elena Lasconi got about 2.6% of the votes.

The leader of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, said he will leave his job because Antonescu did not do well.

Many people voted in the election. 9.57 million people voted. This is more than half of the people who were allowed to vote.

Last year, there was a problem with the vote.

People voted again many months after the first vote was stopped.

Simion was fourth last year. He said, "I want to fix things."

He said, "I want things to be normal. I want to help Romanians. I want people to make the decisions."

After the vote on Sunday, Lasconi said she will leave her job as the leader of the USR party.

She said, "We must help our country be like Europe and change the bad system quickly. The system is not good for people."

The president works for five years and makes big choices for the country and other countries.

Cristian Andrei from Bucharest said the vote on Sunday will make big problems for the main parties. He said the next vote will be between ideas that like countries in the West and ideas that like their own country more.

He said there will be two new kinds of leaders.

Antonescu lost the election and gave a speech. He said he was not with the government party. He did not tell people who to vote for in the next election.

He said, "I had a plan and ideas. Some people voted for me. I ask them to choose the best person for themselves. I want everyone who voted for me today to come and vote again."

Many people still don't trust the leaders. This is true for people who voted for Georgescu. Simion wants these people to vote for him.

Simion said his party, AUR, is like the MAGA group. AUR got more popular after Trump came back. AUR says they are for family, country, church, and being free. Now, more people like them.

People are angry at the leaders who hurt the country.
