In-person voting for the U.S. midterm elections began Friday.

This opens the final six weeks before the Nov. 3 vote.

Election administrators say they are prepared and confident the vote will be accurate and secure.

Still, President Donald Trump has continued to criticize certain voting methods.

He has also tried to reshape how elections are run.

Early in-person voting started Friday in Virginia.

Voters in a few other states, including Minnesota and South Dakota, can now cast absentee ballots in person.

Wider early voting will begin in those and other states in the coming weeks.

The election includes votes for governor and state legislature in most states.

It will also decide whether Republicans keep control of the U.S. House and Senate.

If Democrats retake Congress, it would change the last two years of Trump's term.

It would likely lead to investigations and other oversight.

Voters cited a range of concerns.

These included rising gas and grocery prices, the war in Iran, artificial intelligence and Trump's immigration enforcement.

In Minneapolis, Dragan Colakovic said he voted early for fear of being stopped by immigration agents.

In Virginia, Laura Bland said she voted early to send "a signal that we're still here."
