New Hampshire voters are choosing candidates for Congress, governor, and the state Legislature on Tuesday.
The races are very competitive.
This is because U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen decided not to run again.
Eight Republicans want to replace Shaheen.
Two of them are former U.S. senators she beat.
They are John E. Sununu and Scott Brown.
Sununu lost to Shaheen in 2008.
He has been out of politics for 17 years.
He said he cares about housing, healthcare, and energy costs.
He also wants Congress to do its job.
Brown was a senator from Massachusetts.
He lost to Shaheen in 2014.
He said he is the only truly independent candidate.
He wants to vote for New Hampshire's interests.
The Democratic race for Shaheen's seat has several candidates.
One is U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas.
He is leaving his House seat after four terms.
Pappas has raised much more money than his opponents.
He also led in polls.
But he recently lost some support to scientist Karishma Manzur.
One voter said she chose Manzur.
She said Pappas took money from super PACs.
She also said he voted "present" on a measure to stop weapons sales to Israel.
Shaheen's daughter, Stefany Shaheen, is one of seven Democrats running for Pappas' House seat.
Her main rival is Maura Sullivan.
Sullivan is a former Marine and Iraq War veteran.
She lost to Pappas in 2018.
In the 2nd District, Democratic Rep. Maggie Goodlander has a challenge.
Her opponent is state lawmaker Paige Beachemin.
Republicans control state government.
Gov. Kelly Ayotte faces two little-known opponents in her primary.
Winners will have only eight weeks before the Nov. 3 election.
Future state primaries will move to June.
