A person was missing after a boat broke on a lake in California. There was a storm. They found the person on Monday. Now they know eight people died.

On Saturday, a boat with ten people turned over near D.L. Bliss State Park. The waves were big.

Two people were saved fast and went to the hospital. We do not know if they are okay. Six dead people were found on Saturday. One more dead person was found on Sunday. The police said this. Divers looked in the lake and found the last person on Monday.

Kyle Parker said we cannot say the names of the people who died yet. We need to tell their families first.

Some people die in the lake by accident. They drown. In 2021, 15 people died. The police say about 6 people die there every summer. Not many people die in boat accidents.

The storm was very strong. It surprised everyone. Weather people said it would rain, but it was much worse. The storm hit the south part of the lake around 3 p.m. Matthew Chyba said the wind was strong, and the waves were big.

Chyba said, "We thought it was not very strong."

He said it was very cold there. It was colder than usual for this time. This may have made the air not stable.

Chyba said the waves on Tahoe were very big. He said they made the lake move a lot.

Lake Tahoe is a nice place to visit in the summer. You can go boating there. The lake is in California and Nevada. The water is very cold.

We do not know who was on the boat that turned over. We do not know if they owned the boat or rented it.

The storm on Saturday stopped after two hours.

Brittany Glick was on a boat with friends. They were having a party. The wind started to blow. The waves got bigger. It was sunny at first, but then it got cold. It was hard to see, Glick said.

It was like a very big wave was coming. I never felt like that,

The boat came back after one hour. The sea was rough and wet. Then, it started to hail.

"We were scared to see the boats turned over," Glick said. "The water made us very cold and we shook a lot. Our feet were cold and blue. It was a scary time for me. The storm came very fast. It was very scary."
