They found the last person from the boat. Eight people died.
On Saturday, a boat with ten people turned over in the lake. The weather was bad, and there were big waves. The U.S. Coast Guard said this happened.
Two people were saved and went to a hospital. We do not know how they are. Six people were found dead on Saturday. One more person was found dead on Sunday. The police said this. Divers looked in the lake and found the last person on Monday.
Kyle Parker said we can't say the names of the people who died. We must tell their families first.
Some people have died in the lake by accident. This happened in the last few years. Big boat accidents where many people die are not common. The police said about six people die in the lake every summer. In 2021, 15 people died. The police do not have new numbers yet.
The storm was very strong. It surprised everyone. The weather people thought it would rain a little, but it rained a lot. It was near the lake at 3 p.m. Matthew Chyba from the weather office said the wind was fast and the water was high.
Chyba said, "We thought it was not very strong."
He said it was very cold. This made the air strange.
The waves on the lake were very big. They were eight feet high. Chyba said they made the lake move a lot.
Lake Tahoe is a nice place to visit in summer. You can go boating or use a kayak. The lake is between California and Nevada. The water is very cold. It is a very deep lake.
We don't know who was on the boat that turned over. We don't know if they rented or owned the boat.
The storm on Saturday stopped after two hours.
Brittany Glick was on a boat with friends on Saturday. They were having a party. The wind started to blow, and the waves became big. The sun was out at first, but then it got cold. It was hard to see, Brittany said on Monday.
It was like a very big wave was coming. I never saw anything like it.
The boat came back after one hour. The water was rough and wet. It started to hail.
"We were scared to see the boats upside down," Glick said. "We were wet and very cold. We were shaking a lot. Our feet were cold, and our toes were blue. It was a scary time. The storm came fast. It was very scary."
A video showed boats hitting each other at a boat place because of strong wind.
