Die geplanten Einsparungen betreffen Familien mit wenig Geld. Sie kommen von Kürzungen bei Sozialprogrammen wie Medicaid und dem Programm für Lebensmittelhilfe. Der Gesetzentwurf sagt auch, dass man mehr arbeiten muss, um Lebensmittelhilfe zu bekommen. Außerdem gibt es neue Regeln für die Teilnahme an Gemeinschaftsaktivitäten bei Medicaid. Einige Republikaner, zum Beispiel Finanzminister Scott Bessent, glauben der Analyse des CBO nicht. Sie sagen, dass es eine Wirtschaftskrise geben könnte, wenn das Gesetz nicht angenommen wird.
