Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, undeterred by ongoing civil unrest and notwithstanding a judicial rebuke, has affirmed her unwavering commitment to perpetuating the Trump administration's stringent immigration enforcement policies, even after a federal judge's temporary restraining order – subsequently stayed by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals – deemed the deployment of National Guard troops to quell protests unlawful; this order, conspicuously omitting any proscription against the deployment of Marine Corps personnel following widespread demonstrations ignited by the aforementioned crackdown, elicited praise from Governor Gavin Newsom, who had previously advocated for an immediate cessation of troop involvement in immigration raids, while White House spokesperson Anna Kelly robustly defended the President's actions as being fully within the purview of his executive authority, all amidst persistent nationwide protests, with immigration officials in Los Angeles ostensibly pioneering a template for similar operations in other municipalities; nevertheless, Secretary Noem has unequivocally declared that federal authorities will remain resolute in their enforcement efforts, thereby precluding any prospect of capitulation.
