Mary Lou Retton, a famous American gymnast, was arrested in her hometown in West Virginia. She was charged with a small crime for driving after drinking alcohol. This happened on May 17th. Police stopped her car because someone said a Porsche was driving in a strange way. When police stopped Retton, they smelled alcohol and her words were not clear. They also saw a wine bottle in the car next to her. Retton, who is 57, failed a test to see if she was drunk. She also said no to a breath test and a blood test. She was later let go from jail after she paid $1,500. Her lawyer, Edmund J. Rollo, has not said anything about this yet. This happened after she was very sick in 2023. She had a rare lung illness and had to go to the hospital because she had very little oxygen.
