Mary Lou Retton, the well-known American gymnast, was arrested in her home state of West Virginia for a misdemeanor DUI. Police stopped her on May 17 after receiving reports of her Porsche being driven unsafely. Officers noticed she smelled of alcohol, her speech was unclear, and there was an open wine container in her car. Retton, who is 57, failed a sobriety test and refused both a breathalyzer and a blood test. She was later released after paying a $1,500 bond. Her lawyer, Edmund J. Rollo, has not yet commented on what happened. This incident follows her widely reported struggle in 2023 with a rare type of pneumonia that required her to be in intensive care.
