For President Trump, taking a free plane from Qatar is an easy choice.

"I would always say yes to an offer like that," the Republican told reporters on Monday. "It would be silly to say, 'No, we don't want a free, very expensive airplane.'"

Some people who don't like the plan are worried. They think it could change a symbol of American power into something with many problems about what is right, the law, safety, and finding out secrets.

"This is new," said Jessica Levinson, a lawyer who knows a lot about the country's laws. "We haven't tried these things before."

Trump tried to make people less angry by saying he would not use the free plane after he is no longer president. He said the plane, which costs $400 million, would be given to a future library about a president. This is like the plane President Reagan used, which is now in a museum.

"It would go to the library right after I finish my job," Trump said. "I would not use it."

But this didn't stop people from being angry about the plane. Democrats are very upset, and some people who support the Republican president are also worried. Laura Loomer, who believes strange things and wants to remove people she doesn't like from the government, wrote online that she would do anything for Trump but she was 'very sad'.

Republicans in Congress have also said they are not sure about the plan.

Senator Josh Hawley from Missouri said, "I think it would be good if Air Force One was a big, nice plane made in America. That would be great."

Kentucky politician Rand Paul said he would not vote for Trump to take the plane. He said it did not seem right. When a reporter asked about legal problems, he did not answer clearly.

When Trump goes to the Middle East soon, people will probably keep asking him about the plane, especially when he stops in Qatar.

The two planes used as Air Force One are almost 40 years old, and Trump wants new ones. In his first term, he showed a model of a new, large plane in his office. It had new colors, like the red, white, and dark blue of his own plane.

Boeing is changing old 747 planes that were made for a Russian airline that doesn't exist anymore. But this work has been slow for almost ten years because of problems like a company helping them going broke and it being hard to find and keep workers who can get special permission to work on the planes.

The new planes will not be ready until Trump is no longer president, and he is not happy. He said it is a "total mess." He also said that Air Force One is not as nice as the planes some Arab leaders use.

He said the situation was completely different and incomparable.

Trump said Qatar gave a new plane while the government waited for Boeing to finish it.

"We distribute items without charge," he stated. "We will also accept one."

He got angry when people said he should not take the plane. He said it was like getting gifts when playing golf.

John Thune, a leader in the Senate from South Dakota, was not sure.

I understand why he is angry. They are very late with the new Air Force One, the Republican told the reporters. I don't know if this is the best thing to do.

She said Qatar did not want to influence Trump.

She said they know President Trump and that he always tries to help the American people.

During his first time as president, Trump had a legal problem about payments. This happened because he let people like lobbyists, business people, and diplomats stay at his hotel in Washington, D.C. His lawyers said that the first leaders of the country did not want to stop people from paying for things like hotel rooms with money. They said they only wanted to stop people from taking gifts. But some lawyers who know about rules for good behavior did not agree. And we don't know if countries like Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines paid the normal price or more when they used the hotel.

When he was president for the second time, Trump's family business worked a lot in other countries. In December, they made a deal to build two Trump buildings in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. They made this deal with a company they had worked with before. They worked with this company on a Trump golf place and houses in Oman. Also, in Qatar, the Trump company said last month they will build another Trump place by the sea.

Four Democratic senators said Trump's plan was bad because it could cause problems with other countries and people might not trust the government.

They said everyone, even the president, must follow the law.
