The US government has stopped making new visa appointments for students from other countries for a short time. They want to check their social media more carefully. This rule does not affect students who already have an appointment. A message from Marco Rubio says that embassies should not make more student visa appointments until they get clear instructions on how to check social media. This decision is similar to what the previous government did to international students. The current government also checks social media accounts of people applying for visas. If students cannot get visas for a long time, it could stop them from starting their studies in the summer or autumn. Also, if fewer international students come, universities might lose money.
