This system helps pilots and air traffic controllers know exactly where planes are. The ADS-B system was important in looking into a crash in January because the Black Hawk helicopter in the crash was not sharing its location.

Duffy is working to hire air traffic controllers faster. He is making the training shorter and helping more students pass. Also, the FAA is giving extra money to experienced controllers so they don't retire too soon.

One of the main challenges in improving air traffic control is that the FAA needs to build a new system while the old one is still working, and then change to the new system smoothly. This is one reason why the FAA has made changes little by little over the years.
