A court said a student can come back to New England.
Three judges said the government could not wait. They helped Rumeysa Ozturk. She was in Louisiana because she wrote about the school and the war in Gaza.
The court said Ozturk must go to ICE in Vermont by May 14.
Ozturk has a court case about moving to a new country. The court case is in Louisiana. Ozturk can be in the court case from far away using the internet, the court said.
A judge in Vermont said the student must come to court. Her lawyers say the police did not follow the law.
She has a meeting in Burlington on Friday. She has another meeting on May 22 about her release.
The court said the case must stay in Louisiana.
The court said the Vermont court was okay for Ozturk's case.
The government says it is hard for Ozturk to be in Louisiana for her court case by computer. But the government does not say it is impossible for her to be in court by computer.
Someone sent an email to a US government office to ask a question.
Police stopped Ozturk on a street on March 25. They took her to other places. Then they sent her on a plane to a building in Louisiana. She had a student visa, but it was taken away. She did not know this, her lawyers said.
Her lawyers asked for help in Massachusetts. But they did not know where she was. They could not talk to her for more than a day. Later, a judge moved the case to Vermont.
The government says this move was wrong. The court says the government is not right.
Ozturk and three other students wrote in the school paper last year. They said the school was not good. Students wanted the school to talk about Palestine, show its money, and stop money from companies linked to Israel.
A US paper said Ozturk could not have a visa. This was because her actions might hurt US plans. Her actions might make Jewish students feel unsafe. They might also show she supports a group seen as bad. She wrote something with this group. This group was not allowed on campus for a short time.
Someone from the government said Ozturk helped a group called Hamas. They said this in March.
Esha Bhandari, her lawyer, said it is bad to put people in prison for their political ideas.
