He said the Constitution's only new idea was to create three equal parts of the government. He added that this idea only works if the judges are independent.

The 70-year-old main judge mostly said things he had said before. But when another judge asked him questions, the 600 people clapped. They were there to celebrate 125 years of federal courts in Western New York.

When people asked Roberts about Trump wanting to remove judges because of their decisions, Roberts said the same thing he said before: "You should not remove judges just because you don't like a decision."

Roberts said he will not stop working soon. He has been a judge on the country's main court for almost 20 years.

He came to the city where he was born shortly after Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson strongly criticized attacks on judges.

Jackson spoke to judges and lawyers in Puerto Rico. He said that judges all over the country, and maybe some of them, are attacked and criticized often.

Jackson said on the court's website that the attacks were a big problem that everyone knew about but didn't talk about. She said this during a speech where she didn't mention Trump.

The president and other people were angry at judges who stopped some of his plans.

Someone sent unwanted pizzas to the homes of judges and their children. This was done to try and scare them. Some pizzas were sent using the name of Daniel Anderl. He was the son of Judge Esther Salas. An angry lawyer killed Daniel at his home in 2020.

Senator Dick Durbin wrote a letter. He said these deliveries are threats. They show the judge that people know where the judge lives.

Trump has mostly left the top court alone. The court is deciding on some urgent requests about lower court decisions that were not good for him.

The president has had some good and some bad results with the judges so far. On Tuesday, the judges who think in a traditional way said that the president's rule against transgender soldiers could start again, while people still argue against the rule in court. The three judges who think in a modern way did not agree.

Also, the court has stopped sending some people from Venezuela back to their country for a short time. These people are thought to be in gangs. The court used an old law from the 18th century. The judges also said that people must be allowed to speak in court before they are sent back.

Next week, a court will talk about a rule from Trump. This rule could stop children born in the US from being citizens if their parents are in the country without permission. The government wants the court to change earlier decisions. This would let the rule be used in many parts of the country while the case is still going on.
