Alibaba showed new AI chip technologies and plans for stronger models on Tuesday.

The announcement came days before a meeting between Chinese and U.S. leaders.

AI competition is expected to be a big subject there.

Alibaba CEO Eddie Wu said the new Zhenwu V900 chip is the most powerful AI chip in China today.

He said it is three times faster than the earlier Zhenwu M890 chip.

Alibaba also plans to train a new AI model with five to 10 trillion parameters.

Its newest Qwen3.8-Max model has 2.4 trillion parameters.

Chinese company Moonshot says its Kimi K3 came out in July.

It says Kimi K3 is the world's largest open model, with 2.8 trillion parameters.

Alibaba also plans to grow its data centers because demand for AI computing is rising.

It expects over 20 gigawatts of computing by 2032.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping arrives in Washington on Wednesday for a state visit.

He will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump.

AI, trade and tariffs are expected to be discussed.

Some analysts believe recent Chinese AI advances give Beijing more power in these talks.

U.S.-led export restrictions have blocked China from some cutting-edge technologies, including AI chips.

Huawei also showed new chip technologies last week.

It wants to challenge leaders like Nvidia.

Analysts said Chinese-designed chips are gaining ground.

This is because Nvidia has been blocked from selling some of its most powerful AI chips to China.

Neil Shah of Counterpoint Research said extra computing power helps China stay strong at home.

Wu said global shortages in the AI data center supply chain limit how fast Alibaba can grow its computing.
