Apple unveiled its latest iPhones on Wednesday, including a foldable model called Duo.
The new CEO, John Ternus, introduced the lineup at Apple's Cupertino, California headquarters.
He took over from Tim Cook on Sept. 1.
Before revealing the Duo, Ternus said "actually there is one more thing."
This echoed the phrase used by Apple's late founder, Steve Jobs.
Ternus said the Duo has the largest display ever on an iPhone but still fits in a pocket.
It opens to a 7.6-inch display, 80% larger than the newest iPhone 18 Pro.
Users can also use an Apple Pencil with it, a feature previously limited to iPads.
The Duo lets people split the screen between two apps or two windows of the same website.
At $1,999, it is the most expensive iPhone yet.
Analyst Ben Wood of CCS Insight said the Duo was always going to eclipse Apple's other announcements.
He said it marks Apple's entry into the niche foldable category, which still accounts for less than 5% of the smartphone market.
The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max start at $1,199 and $1,299.
Preorders begin Sept. 12, phones arrive Sept. 18, and the Duo comes Oct. 23.
The new models offer longer battery life, faster charging, and camera improvements, including "smart focus tracking."
Apple is also emphasizing Siri's new AI features and privacy.
Analyst Dipanjan Chatterjee of Forrester said the foldable launch follows Apple's playbook of waiting before entering a category.
He said Ternus must sustain Apple's momentum while preparing for a future when smartphones may no longer be consumers' main link to the world.
