Google has changed the name of Lake Ontario to "Lake America" on its Maps app.

This is for users in the United States.

The change follows an order by President Donald Trump.

Google confirmed the update in a blog post on Saturday.

The change comes a few days after Trump's order.

This happened during a growing trade war with Canada.

Both countries have put new taxes on each other's goods.

These taxes are worth billions of dollars.

Google made a similar change in 2025.

It renamed the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

Google said it follows its policy.

It uses names from the U.S. Geographic Names Information System.

Users in the U.S. will see "Lake America."

Users in Canada will still see "Lake Ontario."

Users in other countries will see both names.

Trump's decision got jokes and little attention in both nations.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford answered with a sign on the Canadian shore.

The sign says: "Lake Ontario. Now and forever."

The White House did not comment.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's office did not comment.

Ford's office did not comment either.
