The 2026 World Cup will be the biggest ever. It has 48 teams. It has 104 matches. It has 16 host cities. They are in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. Officials say it brings a new security problem. The U.S. now faces war with Iran. It also faces political violence near President Donald Trump. People also fear AI can cause trouble.
Many federal, state and local groups handle security. Private workers also help. They protect stadiums, fan zones, teams and guests. They use drones that catch other drones. They use robot dogs. They use X-ray trucks. They also use AI cameras. Andrew Giuliani leads Trump’s World Cup task force. He called it “78 Super Bowls over 39 days.” He said there are no real threats so far.
The event has the same federal security name as the Super Bowl. Officials think up to 7 million visitors will come to the U.S. The Secret Service protects world leaders. It will protect Trump too, if he goes. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin called it a “zero-fail mission.” He also said it will be hard.
The FBI has spent two years on its plan. It will open joint operation centers in each host city on match days. The biggest fears are drones and AI-made false news. Some local police also use new tech and private firms. They study data and watch crowds. Officials say the goal is simple. If security works, nobody will notice it.
