Through the integration of a native feature like Simplify, Google likely seeks to retain users within its suite of tools and services for assistance with intricate subjects, instead of prompting them to engage with prominent external applications such as OpenAI's ChatGPT.

One can access the Simplify feature by selecting desired text on a webpage within the Google app, subsequently tapping the displayed "Simplify" icon, which will then present a more concise rendition of the text to facilitate comprehension and ongoing reading.

Google's research blog gives an example of what this feature might look like. For instance, you might see a part that says: "This condition is complicated and involves the destruction of lung tissue, widespread scarring, changes in the types of lung immune cells, more production of factors that affect the immune system, and big changes to the lung's blood vessels."

This complicated health problem involves damage to the lung tissue. This damage comes from emphysema, which harms the air sacs in the lungs, and from widespread scarring of the lung tissue, called fibrosis.
