Big company Nvidia cannot sell some chips in the U.S. now.

Nvidia says the U.S. government told them they need special permission to send H20 chips to China because the chips might be used in a very strong computer there.

Nvidia thinks it will pay $5.5 billion. This is for the start of its next money year. The year ends on April 27. The company's shares went down about 6% after the market closed.

The H20 is a good computer chip made by Nvidia. The U.S. lets Nvidia sell this chip to China.

Maybe by chance, Nvidia said on Monday it will make some AI chips in the U.S.

Some people in the government wanted to stop selling a computer part called H20 to China. They thought China used it to make AI programs.

Nvidia said they don't want to talk about it.
