NFL offenses started the season in midseason form.
Week 1 produced one of the highest-scoring opening weeks in league history.
The Bears beat Carolina 59-37.
This was three points short of Atlanta's 53-year-old record for most points in Week 1.
That game had 1,030 total yards.
It also had the most combined points (96) ever in an opener.
Josh Allen led the Bills to a 36-31 road win over Houston.
The Texans had allowed the second-fewest points and fewest yards in 2025.
Allen threw for 334 yards.
Buffalo scored on eight of 11 possessions before kneeling down to win Joe Brady's first game.
Ten teams scored more than 30 points.
Six had at least 24 in the first half.
Thirteen quarterbacks posted a passer rating over 100.
Bears coach Ben Johnson has set a team goal.
He wants to break the NFL record for most points in a season.
He said Chicago still has room to improve.
This is true even after scoring touchdowns on its last four drives.
"There's still a number of things on there that I didn't love just from the sideline perspective," Johnson said.
Entering Monday night's Broncos-Chiefs game, teams had combined for 750 points.
The Week 1 record is 791, set in 2012.
Caleb Williams played like an MVP candidate in his second season in Johnson's offense.
Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry and the Ravens won 41-23 at Indianapolis.
This was coach Jesse Minter's first win.
The Giants beat Dallas 28-20 in their first game under new coach John Harbaugh.
They controlled the ball for almost 37 minutes.
The Cardinals pulled off the week's biggest upset, 26-14 at the Chargers.
