Manchester City has agreed to pay Chelsea for midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
The deal is worth 125 million pounds ($169 million).
This matches a British record.
The player from Argentina will join before the transfer window closes.
City is rebuilding its midfield.
Rodri and Bernardo Silva left the club.
City has already signed Elliot Anderson and Ayyoub Bouaddi.
The Fernandez deal would make City’s spending about 392 million pounds ($530 million) this window.
City is also close to signing Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye.
The price is 60 million pounds ($81 million).
Jack Grealish is expected to leave City again.
He will go to Everton on loan.
The Premier League has spent 2.82 billion pounds ($3.8 billion) this window.
That is near the record of 3.14 billion pounds set in 2025.
Other moves before the deadline include Gabriel Jesus.
He is joining Barcelona from Arsenal.
His deal is for three years.
Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade is set for a loan to Juventus.
Moussa Diaby returned to Bayer Leverkusen from Al-Ittihad.
His contract is for five years.
Chelsea’s Marc Guiu moved to Leipzig.
The price is up to 17 million euros ($19.7 million).
