The Alpine F1 team has a new driver. Franco Colapinto will drive in five races. Jack Doohan will not drive in these races.
Alpine said the change was Wednesday. Oliver Oakes left the day before. The team said Flavio Briatore will be in charge. He will do Oakes' work.
Colapinto will drive with Pierre Gasly from the Emilia-Romagna race.
Alpine is ninth in F1. The next race is in Imola on May 16-18.
On Sunday, Doohan crashed his car two times in the Miami race.
The team said the young driver will race in Miami.
Doohan was in seven races and didn't get points. His best place was 13th. Now he will be the team's extra driver.
Jack Doohan is a new driver for Alpine. He drove in Formula 1 last year, in 2024. This year, he started racing for Alpine in Australia. He is driving instead of Esteban Ocon.
Colapinto joined Alpine in January. He was a reserve driver. He raced for Williams in 2024. He got five points. He started in August after Logan Sargeant left.
