Lawyers want to change rules for college sports players.
The lawyers said schools should make lists of students they stopped from playing sports.
The students can try to join the team again or go to other schools.
These players are not part of the new team rules.
The plan also helps young players who were told they could go to college but then could not.
Wilken agreed to the main parts of the deal. Schools can pay players up to $20.5 million a year. Old players will get over $2.7 billion because they did not get money for their name, picture, or story before.
The new idea came after two weeks. A judge sent lawyers to talk again. He said the plan was not okay because of the player limit.
The plan changes the rules for sports teams. Now, teams can have more players. But the school might not give money to all players.
Wilken felt sad for the many players who lost their places on teams.
Wilken asked lawyers to change a part of the plan.
The lawyers for the people who sued said they did something even better.
They think the changes are more than the court asked for.
The lawyers said the athletes might not play on the team again.
The schools can choose their players. New rules do not change this. If a player loses their place because of new rules, it is like the rules are not there for them.
The judge will let people against the plan share new ideas before she decides.
The NCAA and many schools have little time. They have many sports teams and players. A new plan should start in July, and football practice begins soon.
