The Golden State Warriors are reportedly planning to compete without their star guard, Stephen Curry, for at least their next three games in the second-round series against Minnesota, after an MRI revealed a minor left hamstring injury.
Steve Kerr, the coach, remarked, "In the playoffs each year, adaptability is essential, be it concerning strategy, injuries, or the lineup. We must rise to that challenge. We've navigated such circumstances before and are confident in our ability to overcome them again."
The second match will take place in Minneapolis on Thursday, and the series will move to San Francisco for the third and fourth games on Saturday and Monday respectively. Curry's earliest anticipated return is for the fifth game on May 14th, followed by a three-day break before the sixth game on May 18th.
Kerr stated, "We believe we possess the league's premier defense, a fact that has been substantiated over the past several months."
However, this Golden State roster is significantly inferior to past teams, where key players like Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala were heavily involved in their success, and Stephen Curry and Draymond Green were still relatively young; furthermore, in 2018, Kevin Durant had also joined the team.
Currently, the Warriors are optimistic, having navigated the first game thanks to a collective effort spearheaded by Jimmy Butler, Buddy Hield, and Green. Kerr strategically utilized twelve distinct players in that specific contest.
In Curry's absence, the offense will almost certainly run through Butler again, much like it did on Tuesday. Acquired in a trade from Miami three months ago, Butler, a six-time All-Star who has ignited the Warriors on both ends of the court, posted 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists in Game 1 and has scored 20 or more points in four of their five first-round contests against Houston.
Timberwolves guard Mike Conley said, "Every player is trying their hardest. So, during the game, we need to focus more on our opponents, who we are playing against, and what each player usually does. They are not just trying to stop Curry; of course, Buddy will play harder, and Jimmy will try to score more. But they have many players who can score points, and the whole team will work together to do that."
