Americans are less happy with U.S. schools than before.

Their satisfaction has hit the lowest point in 27 years.

A Gallup poll came out in August.

It found that only 32% of adults are happy with the school system.

That is an 11-point drop over two years.

The number of unhappy people has gone up to a record 67%.

Politics is one reason for this change.

Democrats’ happiness has fallen about 19 points since President Donald Trump’s second term started in 2025.

Independents and Republicans also said they are less happy.

Experts say the Trump administration has made people trust schools less.

It treats schools as places for political fights.

It is also trying to close the Education Department.

Politics is not the only reason.

Public trust has gone down since the COVID-19 pandemic closed classrooms.

There are many reports about lower test scores.

People also talk about technology and AI in schools.

These things make the mood worse.

One researcher said people are unhappy with institutions in general.

Parents still feel better about their own children’s schools.

About two-thirds of parents with school-age children are happy with their child’s education.

That is double the number for all adults.

Experts say parents judge their own schools.

But other adults judge schools they have never visited.
