U.S. stocks rose on Friday.

They recovered much of their losses from the week.

The S&P 500 climbed 1%.

It was set to end a four-day losing streak, its longest since June.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 575 points, or 1.1%.

The Nasdaq composite was 1.1% higher.

Oil prices pulled back after jumping to their highest levels since May.

This was due to the ongoing war with Iran.

Brent crude, the international standard, fell 2.3% to $105.12 a barrel.

It had neared $110 overnight.

A report on Friday showed U.S. consumer prices were 3.4% higher last month than a year earlier.

That inflation figure was close to what economists expected.

It was also close to what Wall Street was prepared for.

The data strengthened traders' expectations.

They expect the Federal Reserve to hike its main interest rate at its meeting next week.

The yield on the two-year Treasury rose to 4.61% from 4.56% late Thursday.

The 10-year Treasury yield edged down to 4.95%.

A preliminary report from the University of Michigan said U.S. consumer sentiment is falling.

The declines were among both Democrats and Republicans.

Their expectations for inflation in the year ahead jumped to 4.6% from 4% last month.

This was the highest reading since June.

On Wall Street, Kroger rose 2.5% after reporting a stronger quarterly profit than analysts expected.

ACV Auctions soared 44.5% after Copart said it would pay $10.50 in cash per share.

An early jump for Oracle faded, and its stock was most recently down 1.3%.
