U.S. employers added 162,000 jobs in August.
That number was much higher than the 65,000 jobs that experts expected.
The unemployment rate stayed at 4.1%.
The Labor Department also changed June and July numbers.
It added 55,000 more jobs for those two months.
President Donald Trump welcomed the report on social media.
He said the numbers were better than anyone thought.
Prices are still a big worry for voters.
Fuel prices are especially high.
Average hourly pay went up only 3.1% from one year ago.
That was the smallest increase since May 2021.
Restaurants, construction, and factories added the most jobs.
The number of people working or looking for work grew by 683,000 last month.
Some economists did not believe the recovery was so strong.
Thomas Simons of Jefferies called it a "payback."
He meant it came after three weak months.
He did not think it showed faster growth.
The report may push the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates at its September meeting.
Fed Chair Kevin Warsh said prices are still too far above the central bank's 2% goal.
Employers cannot find enough workers.
This is because of stricter rules on immigration and because many older workers are retiring.
Many companies are using technology and AI to work better.
The information industry lost 23,000 jobs last month.
That loss is linked to AI taking over some jobs.
But some business leaders, like David Iancu of a Milwaukee law firm, said AI cannot replace human contact.
This is especially true in hard areas like divorce law.
