The people who work at Starbucks don't like the new clothes they must wear. They are not working today.
Many Starbucks workers are not working. They do not like the new clothes rules. This is in the U.S.
Starbucks has new rules for clothes. Now, workers must wear black shirts and black, blue, or khaki pants.
Before, baristas could wear more dark colors. Now, Starbucks says green aprons are better. This is to make shops feel good.
But the workers' union at Starbucks said they want to talk about the dress code.
Paige works at Starbucks. She says Starbucks is not good now. Starbucks wants workers to wear some clothes. Paige says: "The clothes are not important. People wait a long time for coffee."
Some people did not like that the shop sold clothes online that workers cannot wear. The shop said it will give workers two free black shirts.
On Wednesday, some workers at Starbucks did not work. They did this at 75 shops in the U.S. Starbucks said it did not change much for them. Some shops closed for a short time.
Starbucks said: "It is better to talk. We want to help our customers. Most of our shops are open now."
Some people like the Starbucks dress code. Some people do not like it. They want Starbucks to make drinks better and help workers. They do not want Starbucks to worry about clothes.
Maddie works at Starbucks in Seattle. She likes the new rules.
Mucklow said: "I think the new clothes at the shop are hard. But the clothes help us look good and be ourselves."
Starbucks workers in the U.S. want a union. They started in 2021. Starbucks and the union talk, but they do not have an agreement yet. They will talk again in February 2024.
The workers said they told the boss at work about the new clothes.
