China chose a new trade leader on Wednesday.

The government said Li Chenggang will work instead of Wang Shouwen. Wang Shouwen helped China and the U.S. make a trade deal in 2020.

Two big countries put more taxes on things they sell to each other. China pays a lot of tax on things it sells to the U.S. Other countries do not pay most taxes for 90 days.

China's economy grew. It grew by 5.4%. This was from January to March. Exports were strong. But experts think it will grow slower. This is because of taxes on goods from China to the U.S.

China also stopped selling some special materials to other countries. People use these materials to make phones, planes, and things for the army.

Before his new job, Li worked for about 4.5 years as China's ambassador to the World Trade Organization. This is a group for world trade. China asked this group for help with its trade problem with the U.S.
