Iran sent missiles toward U.S. targets in Jordan, Iranian state media said.

This came after the U.S. military said it destroyed five Iranian oil tankers.

The tankers were hit after two attacks on a U.S. warship by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.

The U.S. destroyed the vessels Kivik, Charminar, Horizon 1, Riesco, and Derya.

This happened in the Gulf of Oman and near Kharg Island.

Central Command said crews were told to leave the ships before the strikes.

This action came after U.S. strikes on three Iranian tankers three days earlier.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the U.S. will not let Iran’s attacks go unanswered.

He said Iran will lose tankers every time it tries to hit U.S. ships.

Iran expert Danny Citrinowicz warned that such strikes risk more retaliation.

He said they also harm the global economy.

He said there is no military answer to the problem in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy warned tanker crews near Kuwait and Bahrain to leave their vessels.

The U.S. also put new sanctions on Iran’s aviation industry.

Both sides want control of the Strait of Hormuz.
