U.S. forces hit three Iranian oil tankers.
This happened after Navy warships came under missile attack.
The American military said this on Saturday.
It warned that it would destroy Iran's oil fleet if needed.
It said Iran's oil fleet is small and easy to see.
Experts called this move very dangerous.
Earlier, Iran had attacked business ships at sea.
The strikes came one day after President Donald Trump called the conflict "small potatoes."
The fighting started on Feb. 28.
The U.S. and Israel attacked Iran then.
Now, after six months of stop-and-start war, the fighting has returned.
The military said an American aircraft carrier and a destroyer avoided many Iranian attacks.
No U.S. people were hurt.
Two Iranian oil carriers were badly damaged and cannot work.
A third carrier, which was empty, was destroyed.
Iran's military leaders gave a warning.
They said attacks on U.S. military ships would be worse if the U.S. keeps stopping Iranian ships.
State media reported this.
Danny Citrinowicz is an Iran expert at Israel's Institute for National Security Studies.
He said the missile attack on a U.S. carrier showed Iran was taking risks.
Before, Iran did not take these risks.
The U.S. said one tanker was hit near Kharg Island.
Another was hit near Jask.
The empty one was hit in the Gulf of Oman.
Its crew was told to leave the ship.
These strikes came almost a week after the U.S. and Iran started fighting again.
Before that, there was one month of calm.
Earlier in the week, at least five people died in a U.S. attack on southern Iran.
One strike hit a wedding.
Two teenage girls were hurt in that attack.
They talked about the explosions and their injuries in hospital interviews.
The Trump administration has used military action and also pressure on foreign banks that handle Iran's money.
Vice President JD Vance said talks were not likely while Iran attacks ships.
