Nepal also lets reporters from inside and outside the country visit the disaster areas.

China controls information very tightly in Tibet.

There, communication is watched closely.

Chinese journalists were told not to talk to the families of the dead or missing, says Human Rights Watch.

Some family members have spoken through channels outside China, like exiled media or social media accounts.

They hope to find news about their loved ones.
