On Monday, Thailand started to control who can cross its land borders. This means tourists cannot go to Cambodia. Thailand and Cambodia are having a disagreement about their border, and they are both taking actions against each other.
After a fight on May 28, the relationship between the two countries became worse. One Cambodian soldier died in a small area that both countries want. The two sides said they would try to make the situation calmer, but they are still doing things that make people worried.
On Monday, Thailand's Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, said that Thailand will check people more carefully at its borders. Tourists cannot leave. Only students, people who need medical help, and people who need to buy important things can enter or leave Thailand.
She said they wanted to stop people from going to casinos in Cambodia, but it looked like all tourists would be stopped.
The Thai army said on Monday that they have started new rules at all border points with Cambodia in five areas. Now, only people who really need to can cross the border.
Cambodia stopped using some Thai internet services. They also stopped getting electricity and fuel from Thailand. This happened because of a problem at the border. Before this, Cambodia got 30% of its fuel from Thailand.
Paetongtarn said on Monday that Thailand will consider stopping exports that could help scam groups in Cambodia. They will also work with other countries and international groups to stop online crime in Southeast Asia.
Earlier this year, Thailand worked to stop online scams in Myanmar. They stopped electricity, internet, and gas in towns near the border where these scams were.
In April, the U.N. said that Cambodia is a center for online scams. People there trick others online with fake love stories, bad investment ideas, and illegal gambling games.
Some people have criticized Paetongtarn because they think she is too kind to Cambodia. This criticism comes especially from right-wing groups who have been against her father, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, for many years.
Last week, a phone call between Paetongtarn and Hun Sen became public. Hun Sen was the leader of Cambodia for a long time. Many people were very angry about the call and said Paetongtarn should stop her job.
Some people said she tried to please Hun Sen, who was her father's friend. They thought she made Thailand look weak because she called a Thai army leader at the border her "opponent." Some groups will protest this week and ask Paetongtarn to leave her job.
