President Javier Milei stopped a government program in Argentina that gave expensive medicine to people with cancer. Because of this, a secret group on Facebook started to help people find extra medicine for those who need it. Milei's plan to save money has caused big problems for Argentina's public health system. The money for healthcare was cut by almost half (48%), and many health workers lost their jobs. Also, programs for finding cancer early and for giving vaccines have stopped. Now, medicines and private health plans cost much more. Older people also have less medical help. Argentina's health system is becoming more like the U.S. system, where not everyone has health insurance and it costs a lot. Milei's job cuts have also made it hard to plan vaccinations and collect health information. At the same time, there is a measles outbreak, which is the first one in many years. There are also more people with sexually transmitted infections, like HIV (20% more) and syphilis (50% more). More than 60 cancer patients have reportedly died because they could not get their medicine from the DADSE program, and over 1,500 patients are still waiting for their drugs.
