Egyptian archaeologists have found three tombs from the New Kingdom period (1550–1070 B.C.) in Luxor's Dra Abu al-Naga necropolis. These tombs have detailed writings that tell us about the people buried there. Among them were important officials like Baki, who managed the grain storage, and "S," who had many jobs, including supervising at the Temple of Amun and being a writer. The third tomb belonged to Amum-em-Ipet, a worker for the Amun estate. Although his tomb was mostly damaged, parts of pictures showing people carrying funeral items and a feast were discovered. The ministry has shared photos of the items and statues found in the tombs. This discovery comes before the full opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, expected this summer, which will display more than 100,000 ancient Egyptian artifacts. Sherif Fathi, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, called this discovery a very important scientific and archaeological success that will likely boost cultural tourism.
