In Luxor's Dra Abu al-Naga necropolis, Egyptian archaeologists have unearthed three New Kingdom (1550–1070 B.C.) tombs, replete with hieroglyphic inscriptions elucidating the identities of their occupants: luminaries such as Baki, overseer of the granary, and "S," a polymathic figure superintending affairs at the Temple of Amun and serving as a scribe; the dilapidated sepulchre of Amum-em-Ipet, a labourer within the Amun estate, yielded fragmented depictions of funerary accoutrements and a commemorative banquet, with the Ministry subsequently disseminating photographic evidence of the statuary and artefacts exhumed, an unveiling that presages the imminent inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum, poised to showcase over 100,000 relics emblematic of Egypt's opulent antiquity, a landmark discovery hailed by Minister Sherif Fathi as a signal scientific and archaeological triumph, primed to galvanize cultural tourism.
