In-person voting for the U.S. midterm elections started Friday.

This opens the last six weeks before the Nov. 3 vote.

Election officials say they are ready.

They are sure the vote will be correct and safe.

But President Donald Trump keeps criticizing some voting methods.

He also tries to change how elections are run.

Early in-person voting started Friday in Virginia.

In some other states, voters can now vote in person early.

These states include Minnesota and South Dakota.

More early voting will start in these states and others in the next few weeks.

The election includes votes for governor and state legislature in most states.

It will also decide if Republicans keep control of the U.S. House and Senate.

If Democrats win back Congress, it would change the last two years of Trump's term.

It would probably lead to investigations and other checks.

Voters talked about many worries.

These include rising gas and food prices, the war in Iran, artificial intelligence, and Trump's immigration enforcement.

In Minneapolis, Dragan Colakovic said he voted early.

He was afraid immigration agents would stop him.

In Virginia, Laura Bland said she voted early to send "a signal that we're still here."
