New Hampshire voters are choosing people for Congress on Tuesday.

They also choose a governor and state lawmakers.

The races are very close.

Senator Jeanne Shaheen decided not to run again.

So her seat is open.

Eight Republicans want her job.

Two of them are former senators.

Shaheen beat them before.

Their names are John E. Sununu and Scott Brown.

Sununu lost to Shaheen in 2008.

He was out of politics for 17 years.

He said he cares about housing and healthcare.

He also cares about energy costs.

He wants Congress to do its job.

Brown was a senator from Massachusetts.

He lost to Shaheen in 2014.

He said he is the only truly independent candidate.

He said he will vote for New Hampshire's interests.

Democrats also want her seat.

One is Chris Pappas.

He is in the House now.

He will leave after four terms.

Pappas has more money than his opponents.

He led in polls.

But he lost some support recently.

A scientist named Karishma Manzur is close behind.

One voter said she chose Manzur.

She said Pappas took money from super PACs.

She also said he voted "present" on a weapons measure for Israel.

Shaheen's daughter is Stefany Shaheen.

She wants Pappas' House seat.

Seven Democrats want it.

Her main rival is Maura Sullivan.

Sullivan was a Marine.

She fought in the Iraq War.

She lost to Pappas in 2018.

In the 2nd District, Maggie Goodlander is the Democratic representative.

She faces a challenge from Paige Beachemin.

Beachemin is a state lawmaker.

Republicans control state government.

Governor Kelly Ayotte faces two opponents.

They are not well known.

Winners have only eight weeks.

The election is on Nov. 3.

Future state primaries will move to June.
