She called him to say she lost.

McKee did not take her call.

Now Foulkes wants to run against him again.

The primary is on Sept. 9.

McKee wants to win.

He does not want to be the first U.S. governor to lose a primary since 2018.

Foulkes used to work for CVS Health.

She was a top leader there.

She has more money than McKee for the campaign.

She is showing many ads.

She says people feel the state government helps only a few powerful people.

McKee is 75 years old.

People are angry about the Washington Bridge in Providence.

He closed the westbound side in 2023.

Officials found a serious problem in the bridge.

The repair work takes more time and costs more money than they said.

McKee says he kept people safe.

He says the bridge will be done by 2028.

He compares it to the new bridge in Baltimore.

That bridge is the Francis Scott Key Bridge replacement.

It will be done by 2030.

Adam Myers is a political scientist.

He said bridges give voters a clear thing to blame.

McKee says Foulkes is a business leader who does not know regular people.

He says she helped cause the opioid crisis.

Foulkes says that is not true.

She says CVS cut opioid use by 40% when she worked there.

Foulkes is 62 years old.

Her family has political ties.

She worked at CVS for 25 years.

She says McKee’s words about her are also words about CVS.

CVS is a big employer in Rhode Island.

McKee talks about support from labor groups.

But the state Democratic Party and AFL-CIO did not support anyone.

Foulkes has support from Democrats in Cumberland.

That is McKee’s hometown.

She said, “It’s a great moment to be an outsider.”
