Lindsay Clancy's lawyer said Thursday that she was in a deep psychosis when she strangled her three children in their Massachusetts home.

Attorney Kevin Reddington blamed the medicines and medical care she received.

He said she was a loving mother before her mental health got worse.

Prosecutors argue Clancy acted on purpose.

They say she sent her husband out on errands before killing her children and trying to kill herself.

Prosecutor Jennifer Sprague said the case is not about the nation's mental healthcare system.

She called that argument a distraction.

Clancy has pleaded not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility.

She did not testify.

Jurors will begin deliberations after closing arguments.

If convicted of murder, she faces life in prison without parole.

If found not guilty, she could be sent to a state mental health facility.

Clancy, now 36, had sought treatment from multiple providers before the killings.

She had even checked herself into a psychiatric hospital.

Less than three weeks after leaving, she killed Cora, Dawson, and Callan Clancy, ages 5, 3, and 8 months.

She then jumped from a second-floor window and is paralyzed from the waist down.

Her lawyer said she lived for her kids and showed jurors a "wish box" from her honeymoon.
