Per la prima volta, alcune zone dell'Alaska riceveranno un avviso di caldo, un nuovo termine che il Servizio Meteorologico Nazionale userà al posto dei vecchi comunicati sul tempo. Questo cambiamento serve a comunicare meglio la gravità e il pericolo del caldo, invece di indicare solo temperature molto alte.

Il primo avviso è stato dato per Fairbanks, dove le temperature dovevano superare i 29 gradi Celsius, una cosa insolita per giugno. Questo non è legato ai cambiamenti climatici, ma si capisce che il caldo ha un effetto sull'Alaska, soprattutto dove non c'è l'aria condizionata.
