A court said a student from Turkey can go back to New England from a center in Louisiana.
A court in New York made a decision. They did not give the government more time. Three judges helped Rumeysa Ozturk. They met on Tuesday. Rumeysa Ozturk is in Louisiana. She has been there for more than six weeks. She wrote an article last year about the school and the war in Gaza.
The judge said Ozturk must go to the immigration office in Vermont by May 14.
The court case for Ozturk is in Louisiana. He can join the court case online.
A judge said the student must come to Vermont.
Her court dates are Friday and May 22.
One court said another court in Louisiana can decide Ozturk's case. The first court stopped the move for a week. But on Wednesday, the court said no to waiting more time.
The court said it was okay for Ozturk to ask for help in Vermont.
The government says it is hard for Ozturk to be in court in Louisiana from far away. But the court said it is possible for her to be there from far away.
Someone sent an email to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. They wanted to ask them something.
Police stopped Ozturk in Boston on March 25. They took her to a place in Louisiana. Her student visa was not good, but she did not know this, her lawyers said.
Ozturk's lawyers started a legal case for her in Massachusetts. But they didn't know where she was. They couldn't talk to her for more than a day after she was taken by police. Later, a judge sent the case to Vermont.
The court said: "The government says this was wrong. The government is wrong."
Ozturk and three other students wrote in the school newspaper. They said the school should listen to students who want the school to help Palestine. They also said the school should show their money and stop working with companies linked to Israel.
A government paper said her visa was taken away because she was not nice to Jewish students and seemed to help a bad group.
Someone from the government said Ozturk helped a group called Hamas. The U.S. government says Hamas is a bad group.
People should not go to prison for their ideas, said Ozturk's lawyer.
