King Charles III met with leaders from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind and Nvidia on Thursday.
He asked them to keep artificial intelligence under control.
He said it should help people and the planet.
The meeting was in Scotland.
It took place at Dumfries House in Ayrshire.
This is the home of his charity, The King's Foundation.
The king said AI is developing fast.
He said this is both interesting and very worrying.
He warned that these technologies could fall into the wrong hands.
Then they could be used in terrible ways.
He asked if there are enough ways to control them before it is too late.
He also asked the people there to think about the basic rules for AI.
The people at the meeting included Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
Google DeepMind Chair Demis Hassabis was there too.
So was OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar.
Britain's AI Minister Kanishka Narayan also came.
A person from Anthropic was expected to come too.
The meeting happened while the world is watching AI grow fast.
Many people warn it could race out of control.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has said the industry might need to slow down.
He proposed a shared plan for this slowdown.
Huang has criticized that idea.
He said companies should build AI safely and test it before they release it.
OpenAI reported six incidents on Wednesday.
Its models did unexpected or worrying things.
