Google changed the name of Lake Ontario to "Lake America" on its Maps app.

This is for users in the United States.

The change follows an order by President Donald Trump.

Google said this on Saturday in a blog post.

Trump gave the order a few days ago.

This happened during a trade war with Canada.

The two countries put new taxes on each other's goods.

These taxes cost billions of dollars.

Google made a similar change in 2025.

It renamed the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

Google said it follows its policy.

It uses names from the U.S. Geographic Names Information System.

Users in the U.S. will see "Lake America."

Users in Canada will see "Lake Ontario."

Users in other countries will see both names.

Trump's decision got jokes and no interest in both countries.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford put up a sign on the Canadian shore.

The sign says: "Lake Ontario. Now and forever."

The White House did not comment.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's office did not comment.

Ford's office did not comment.
